Larvotto is still transforming

In line with the renovation works of the Larvotto district, which began with the sea extension of Anse du Portier, the sole public beach of the Principality will become more beautiful for greater conviviality and attractiveness.

The project, signed by the Italian architect Renzo Piano, in collaboration with landscape architect Michel Desvigne, aims to redesign the coastline and offer a more qualitative range of seaside facilities and infrastructures.

The beach will be totally renovated and better protected thanks to breakwaters placed between the dikes, commercial areas will be enlarged, restaurants will have indoor dining rooms and will be open all year long, and public areas will be expanded to 15,000 square meters.

On the Avenue Princesse Grace, a pergola topped with photovoltaic panels, which will provide the energy necessary for almost the entire site, will invite people to go for a walk with more shaded areas; a one-kilometre-long cycle path and a children's playground will be created in order to perfect this place, which is so appreciated by Monegasques and tourists.

Works have begun in 2019, with a complete closure of the beach until June 2020. It will then be possible to enjoy it during the summer season before works start again in September 2020 until June 2021, when the beach and shops will be completely reopened. The whole layout should be completed in early 2022.
