Ilot Pasteur: The west side of Monaco begins a new metamorphosis

Nearly twenty years ago, the old railway line located at the western entrance to the Principality was disused, from the avenue de Fontvieille to the cliff, leading to a wasteland with a total area of ​​119,000 sqm, where a new urban complex will emerge in a few years: the Ilot Pasteur.

 

The development of this plot, which began in 2016, includes the construction on 5 levels of :

  • A middle school with a capacity of 1,500 students fully equipped with gymnasium, swimming pool, auditorium (replacing the current Charles III College)
  • A postal sorting center
  • A recyclable waste transfer center
  • The new municipal media library
  • The new Léo Ferré events center
  • A data center
  • State property offices with a surface area of ​​approximately 8,700 m2
  • Offices for the National Education, Youth and Sports
  • A public car park with more than 900 spaces

 

The delivery of the different structures will be carried out in several stages. First, the middle school, offices and the parking lot are scheduled for the end of 2023. The Léo Ferré events center, the postal sorting and other entities in mid-2024.

Once completed, this architectural complex will also benefit from a pedestrian flow in the extension of the Honoré II promenade, where the Hélios and Jardins d’Apolline buildings are now located, thus providing a pleasant place to walk.
