For several months now, Monaco has been offering its nationals and foreign residents a regal digital identity with the highest security standards. New identity cards and residence permits, equipped with an electronic chip, enable the Principality's residents to carry out their daily procedures online, to access public and private services online in a secure and simplified way.

Valid identity or residence cards remain valid until their expiry date. However, in order to benefit from digital identity in Monaco, they must be renewed by following the renewal and exchange procedures in force.

Once you have the required supporting documents, in digital format, you should then apply for a renewal of your residence permit via the dedicated teleservice by clicking on this link.

And it is then when they collect their new card from the Public Safety Department that residents will be able to activate their digital identity or not, immediately or later at their convenience.
